Butyl rubber
Butyl rubber is a kind of synthetic rubber, which is synthesized from isobutylene and a small amount of isoprene. Usually used in the production of automobile tires and automotive sound insulation. In the field of building waterproofing, butyl rubber has been widely used to replace asphalt in the name of environmental protection.
Butyl rubber, referred to as IIR, is the abbreviation of Isobutylene Isoprene Rubber. It has good chemical stability and thermal stability, the most prominent of which are air tightness and water tightness. Its air permeability is only 1/7 of natural rubber, 1/5 of styrene-butadiene rubber, 1/200 of natural rubber and 1/140 of styrene-butadiene rubber. Therefore, it is mainly used to manufacture various rubber products such as inner tubes, steam pipes, water tyres, dam bottom and washers.
